H. Topsidis: “I will work for the developement and progress of the region”

"My colleagues and I will work for the development and progress in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace", said the head of the "Regional Synthesis" and elected new Regional Governor of EMT, Christodoulos Topsidis.

The battle of the second round for the EMT Region proved to be tough, where Christodoulos Topsidis finally prevailed with 50.86% (107,561 votes) against the current regional governor Christos Metios 49.14% (103,924 votes).

Christos Metios had taken the lead in the first round of the regional elections with 42.30% and for a while he did not manage to prevail, which ultimately cost him, since Christodoulos Topsidis and the "Regional Synthesis" managed to take the lead.

It must be emphasized that the undisputed winner in the second round of the elections was once again abstention, which scored 64.74% as out of the 649,294 registered; only 228,945 voters came to the ballot box.

Metios, the winner of Xanthi and Rhodope

Among these, the outgoing governor of EMT Christos Metios managed to take first place in only two of the five Regional Units, in Xanthi and Rhodope in which he occupied 51.27% and 60.45% respectively while Christodoulos Topsidis was limited in Xanthi at 48.73% and in Rodopi 39.55%.

Topsidis the winner in Kavala, Drama, Evros and Thassos

The "Regional Synthesis" list of Christodoulos Topsides was imposed on Mr. Metios in Kavala, Drama, Evros and Thassos which were enough to give him the anointing as the new regional governor of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. 

In more detail in Kavala Christodoulos Topsidis collected 53.97%  of the votes, while Christos Metios 46.03%, in Drama 58.75% chose the "Regional Synthesis" while Evros and Thassos gave Christodoulos Topsides 52.24% and 67.98% respectively.
