Greek region boosts tourism ties with Istanbul meetings
Officials from the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace held a series of business-to-business (B2B) meetings in Istanbul, aiming to strengthen tourism flows and build new partnerships with industry professionals.
The initiative, organized in cooperation with the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), brought regional representatives into contact with more than 80 Turkish travel agents as part of a broader strategy to promote the region in neighboring markets.
Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Panagiotis Archontis led the delegation, emphasizing the importance of closer tourism cooperation between Greece and Turkiye. He noted that the region’s participation in Istanbul for a third consecutive year reflects a strong commitment to building mutually beneficial ties.
The mission also included representatives from the Municipality of Semadirek (Samothrace), who promoted the island’s unique identity and local businesses.
The meetings form part of the “Extroversion 2026” campaign, aimed at increasing the international visibility of the region’s tourism sector.
