Eastern Macedonia and Thrace showcases tourism at ITB Berlin 2026

The tourism delegation of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) completed its participation in the ITB Berlin 2026 International Tourism Fair, held in Berlin, Germany.

Recognized as Europe’s premier tourism event with global significance, ITB Berlin serves as a key platform for promoting leading international destinations.

The EMT delegation, led by Deputy Regional Governor for Tourism Panagiotis Archontis, included regional officials, industry professionals, travel agents, hoteliers, and representatives from Chambers of Commerce and municipal authorities.

Under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT), the region’s presence went beyond exhibition displays, featuring an intensive schedule of targeted professional meetings:

Air Tourism: Strategic meetings were held with airlines Eurowings and Jet2 to plan next steps for strengthening air connectivity and attracting air travelers to the region.

Investment Interest: Deputy Regional Governor Archontis met with representatives of international companies seeking detailed information on the region’s tourism offerings. Their proposals are now under review.

Additionally, the delegation held meetings with numerous European travel agents focusing on thematic tourism, highlighting the region’s specialized offerings.

The delegation emphasized Pilgrimage, Hiking, and Sports Tourism as key focus areas. According to Archontis, these initiatives have already yielded significant results and earned international recognition for the region.
