Great success in Historical SEÇEK events

Seçek Oil Wrestling and Cultural Events, traditionally organized every year by Seçek Minority Education and Culture Association, were held at the Mehrikoz football stadium on 15-17 July this year.

This year's chief (AGA) of the event, which was attended by thousands of people, was Hüseyin Apti.

Seçek Agha Hüseyin Apti welcomed the guests at the Mehrikoz football field. The guests took their places in the protocol by greeting the people with drums and horns.

ONE MINUTE POSITION OF RESPECT FOR METE

The event started with a minute's silence in memory of Ahmet Mete, Mufti of Xanthi, who passed away recently. Then protocol speeches were made.

The opening speech was made by SEÇEK Association President Necmettin Kâhya.

Then, SEÇEK Aga Hüseyin Apti, Kozlukebir Municipality Council President Rukiye Rızgıç, Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board Chairman and Mufti of Komotini İbrahim Şerif and finally Turkey's Consul General to Komotini Murat Ömeroğlu spoke. Speakers shared their thoughts on the organization and historical events with their peers.

In the speeches made, the importance of the historical Seçek events was emphasized and messages were given about the unity and solidarity of the members of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority.

After the protocol speeches, Xanthi Turkish Union Folklore team and Komotini Turkish Youth Union Folklore team took the stage.

THE PRIME PEHLIVAN YUSUF KAFLI

In the continuation of the program, wrestlers from Greece, Türkiye and North Macedonia wrestled in the private square in different categories.

The chief wrestler of 2022 become Yusuf Kaflı, who defeated his rival Cafer Hami Çarkacı in the final match.

EVENTS ENDED WITH BETÜL DEMİR CONCERT

The three-day historical events held at the Mehrikoz village football field ended with a concert by Turkish singer Betül Demir, who took the stage after the medal ceremony held after the oil wrestling.
