Good news for students receiving high school education in Türkiye
A recent update brings good news for students from Greece and Balkan countries who are currently pursuing their high school education in Türkiye. The requirement for taking the national university entrance exam, YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam), has been lifted for these students.
According to a social media announcement made by IDEAL SCHOOLS, a private educational institution based in Xanthi, the regulation introduced in 2022 mandated that all foreign nationals studying at Turkish high schools must take the YKS beginning in 2026 in order to apply to Turkish universities. However, under the newly enacted regulation, students coming from Greece and other Balkan countries and enrolled in high schools in Türkiye are now exempt from this requirement.
Instead, these students will be eligible to apply to various Turkish universities through alternative admission routes such as:
- TR-YÖS (Türkiye International Student Admission Exam)
- High School Diploma GPA
- SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)
Some of the universities that accept applications through these alternative methods include:
- Marmara University
- Uludağ University
- and many others.
IDEAL SCHOOLS emphasized that those interested can contact the institution for a complete list of participating universities and detailed information about the application process.
"We continue to guide you on your educational journey," the announcement concluded.
