Gkioulekas: Kipi Border Crossing to be upgraded by summer

Deputy Minister of the Interior Konstantinos Gkioulekas has assured that the Kipi border crossing in Evros will be upgraded by summer 2025. The €12.9 million project will add four new entry lanes for heavy vehicles and passenger cars, aiming to eliminate long waiting lines. Gkioulekas made this announcement during his speech at the East Macedonia Thrace Forum.

Additionally, he highlighted changes in the development law to strengthen Northern Greece's economy. In response to regional demands, the law allocates €300 million in funding for 2025 and 2026, primarily for manufacturing businesses looking to expand and invest.

The Evros railway upgrade is progressing rapidly, as is the modernization of Alexandroupoli Port, according to the minister. He emphasized that Greece's reputation as a secure country has attracted major international investors to Northern Greece.
