Forest fire in Alexandroupoli

It was decided to evacuate three villages for precautionary purposes due to the forest fire in the Melia region in Alexandroupoli.
In the statement made by the Greek Fire Brigade Organisation, it was stated that the fire broke out in the forest area in the Melia region of Alexandroupoli and emergency intervention started from the air and land.
Traffic was temporarily restricted on the Ipsala-Alexandroupoli Egnatia road due to excessive smoke.
A warning message was sent to the mobile phones of the inhabitants of the surrounding villages from the civil protection hotline to follow the directions of the authorities.
In addition to the ground intervention to the fire, 5 fire extinguishing aircraft and 2 helicopters are also intervening from the air.
