Fires in Alexandroupoli and Evros cannot be brought under control.
Forest fires in Greece continue on the 9th day.
The fires, which started in Alexandroupoli on 19 August and affected the Evros province and the Rhodope province, including Komotini and its villages, have still not been brought under control.
Some villages in the region were evacuated due to the expansion of the fire, especially in the Dadias forest area.
Dimitris Petrovic, Deputy Regional Governor of Evros Province, told ERT that 750 thousand acres of the 1 million 600 thousand acres of forest area have already been burnt.
Petrovic pointed out that the wind will change direction as of Monday and in this case, the fire may reach a more dangerous dimension and the damage may increase even more.
