Following the recent flood disaster in Yassıköy and Narlıköy, Yassıköy Municipality Deputy Mayors Kubilay Manko and Mehmet Arif provided updates on the situation.

Heavy rainfall began yesterday afternoon, and the areas, located at the foot of the mountains and prone to heavy rain damage, were once again affected by severe flooding.

Rainwater flowed rapidly through the streets and riverbeds, causing the rivers to overflow in a short time. The floodwaters spread across the villages, affecting homes and streets.

The Yassıköy Municipality closely monitored the situation from the start of the heavy rainfall and took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of residents. Despite the efforts of municipal vehicles, additional equipment was brought in to assist with the cleanup and recovery operations.

Cleanup Efforts Ongoing in Yassıköy

Deputy Mayor Kubilay Manko, responsible for the Yassıköy region, reported that the municipality acted swiftly, taking all necessary precautions from the onset of the storm. The floodwaters caused damage to some homes as rainwater cascaded down the mountain slopes and through the village streets. Manko stated that they worked late into the night and resumed cleaning operations at the crack of dawn, vowing to continue until the streets are fully cleared. He extended his best wishes to the people of Yassıköy and Narlıköy affected by the disaster.

Yassıköy-Narlıköy Main Road Reopened, Water Restored to Narlıköy

Narlıköy was one of the areas most severely affected by the floods, with rivers overflowing and water spreading into homes and businesses. Mehmet Arif, the Deputy Mayor responsible for the Susurköy region, closely oversaw efforts to prevent further damage and coordinated the municipality’s response throughout the night.

Arif reported that cleanup and repair work continued from early morning, and the previously closed Yassıköy-Narlıköy main road has now been reopened. Additionally, water has been restored to Narlıköy residents after the necessary repairs were completed. Arif emphasized that the municipality would continue its efforts and assured residents that the local government would always be by their side in times of crisis. He offered his condolences to the people of Yassıköy and Narlıköy impacted by the flood.
