Fire ban from March 11 to 17 in East Macedonia - Thrace

According to the Decision of the Operations Coordinator of the Fire Service of Central Macedonia, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (Government Gazette 1132B/2025), a ban on any use of fire is in force from 11 to 17 March 2025 for the entire territory of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace due to pyrometeorological conditions (strong winds, increase in temperature). Specifically, it is prohibited according to fire ordinance 9/2024:

Burning crop residues

The burning of grasslands

The burning of pastures

Burning vegetation in piles

The use of "Sky lanterns" (airborne flying lanterns or balloons)

The use of solid, liquid and gaseous fuel devices in forests, woodlands, peri-urban green areas, agricultural areas, etc.

The use of fire in the countryside for camping and/or recreational purposes

Throughout the year, burning or throwing away waste, discarding smoking remains, matches, coals, ashes, etc.

Violators are subject to administrative fines, while criminal liability may also arise.
