Strong winds sweep Greece as August begins
August began with strong winds across Greece on Saturday, with the main weather feature being intensified northerly winds, particularly in the Aegean Sea and eastern mainland areas, according to Meteo.gr.
The weather is expected to remain mostly clear, with local cloud formations in eastern and southern regions. Winds in the Aegean will reach 6 to 7 Beaufort, with locally stronger gusts of up to 8 Beaufort in the central and southern parts of the sea.
Temperatures remain high
Temperatures will range from 14 to 35 degrees Celsius in northern Greece, while western mainland areas may see highs of 37 to 39 degrees Celsius. In most regions, temperatures will remain between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Crete will experience temperatures ranging from 16 to 33 degrees Celsius, while the Aegean islands will see highs of around 34 to 35 degrees Celsius.
Local forecasts
In Attica, clear skies are expected with northern winds reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort and up to 7 Beaufort in eastern areas. Temperatures will range from 19 to 31 degrees Celsius.
Thessaloniki will also have clear weather, with lighter winds of up to 3 Beaufort and temperatures between 25 and 32 degrees Celsius.
