FEP Party requests the petitions and files deposited against the Party

The petitions and files deposited against the Friendship, Equality and Peace Party, which achieved great success in the 2024 European Parliament elections, were requested from the Court of Cassation Western Thrace 5 July 2024 46 Share Friendship, Equality and Peace Party (FEP) participated in the European Parliament elections held on 9 June 2024 and achieved great success in the provinces of Komotini and Xanthi where Western Thracian Turks live and came first in both provinces.

The success achieved by the FEP Party disturbed some people. Upon the news in the Greek press that some petitions and files were deposited to the Court of Cassation for the suspension of the party's activities, the party administration took action. FEP Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu and the party's lawyer İlker Çavuşoğlu went to the capital Athens on Thursday, 4 July 2024 and requested the petitions and files deposited against the party at the Court of Cassation.

In the post made by the party on the X social media account regarding the attempt to receive the deposited files, the following was stated: "We knocked on the door of the Supreme Court of Appeals today to receive the petitions and files deposited against us. We made our application and we expect the files to be given to us immediately. After years of usurpation of our citizenship and minority rights, we now want to restrict our democratic rights and freedoms, we emphasise once again that we will follow the legal process and that we will continue to defend our denied identity and usurped rights as the Friendship, Equality and Peace Party, the only and loud voice of the Turkish Minority of Western Thrace."
