FEP Party issues a New Year's message

In the statement issued by the party, the following points were emphasized:

"Despite the ongoing wars, the brutality of crimes against humanity, and the unresolved chronic issues facing our community, we prepare to greet the new year with hope.

The year 2024 was a challenging period for our minority. Major issues in education, no improvements in chronic problems related to minority rights such as foundations and the mufti's office, and injustices against our social structure continue to be a heavy burden. The official status of the Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB) has still not been recognized, despite the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights. The number of our autonomous schools closed under the pretext of 'insufficient student numbers' has increased. Our young people, unable to find opportunities in one of the poorest regions of the European Union and Greece, are forced to migrate to other countries, deepening our concerns about the future.

In 2024, our success in the European Parliament elections was another source of pride for the Turkish Muslim Minority of Western Thrace. However, the judicial pressures we faced following this significant achievement deeply affected our belief in democracy. The obstacles placed in front of our democratic right to representation, and the attempts to silence our minority, have wounded the conscience of not only our community but also anyone who believes in democratic values.

Despite this negative situation, we maintain our faith in the hope and potential for change that the new year brings. We step into 2025 with the wish for a world where justice, peace, human rights, and solidarity flourish once again, and where injustices, discrimination, and crimes against humanity come to an end.

On this occasion, we wish a year filled with health, happiness, peace, and joy to everyone."
