The statement of the FEP Party regarding the report of the Thrace Development Commission is as follows:
“As a result of the work of the Thrace Development Commission, we saw it as an essential step, desiring the production of solutions that could meet the demands and requests of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority, and listening to the problems faced by the Minority in their daily life.
Although there is no need to exchange ideas with the strong voice of the minority, the most important political organ of Western Thrace, the Friendship Equality Peace Party, which expresses the real problems, nevertheless, with the working group we have established, the real problems and solution proposals of the Western Thrace Muslim Turkish Minority are discussed. We have fulfilled our duty by forwarding a comprehensive report containing
Although the Thrace Development Commission report, whose final text was shared with the public a short time ago, includes suggestions regarding the problems, we regret to observe that it is far from providing a radical solution to the problems of the Minority. We would also like to emphasize that some of the views expressed in the report are facts that are incompatible with reality. The fact that there is no inequality, and that there is full compliance with the Lausanne Treaty and the ECHR decisions, reveals the inconsistency and raises questions about the real mission of the commission.
As we have stated many times before, it is a necessity for the welfare of the people and the democracy of our country to be in dialogue with the Minority and to consider the ideas that reflect the truth. We have seen once again that if this dialogue process does not take place, there will be no solution to the main problems of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority."
