Event organized in Alexandroupolis against gold mining
The Anti-Gold Mining Committee of the Rodopi and Meriç regions has announced a public event on Sunday, June 1, at 7:00 p.m. The gathering will be held at the “Warehouse 1” area near Alexandroupolis Port.
The event, organized in collaboration with the municipalities of Alexandroupolis, Maronia-Sapchani, and Komotini, will focus on the latest developments in gold mining activities in Thrace. The session aims to update the public on current environmental and social concerns related to mining projects.
Several experts, including university professors, geologists, veterinarians, and environmental engineers, will participate as speakers. Among them are Dr. Arikas Kiriakos from the University of Hamburg, Professor Yannis Tentes from Democritus University of Thrace, Professors Sarantis Dimitriadis and Stilianos Skias from Aristotle University, and Professor Danis Sergelidis from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.
The event will be moderated by Rula Tsitrioti, President of the Alexandroupolis Bar Association.
