Event for “Ashura” by SEÇEK Association
SEÇEK Minority Education and Culture Association organized an Ashura event at the Mehrikoz football field on Saturday, August 20.
Kinsman from the region showed great interest in the Ashura event organized by the association.
Along with the cognates residing in the villages of Mehrikoz region, cognates from different villages of the Rhodope province participated in the event.
Necmettin Kahya, the Chairman of SEÇEK Minority Education and Culture Association, members of the board of directors and supervisors, Deputy Consul Subutay Koç representing the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in Komotini, the Mayor of Arianna, (Kozlukebir) Rıdvan Ahmet, vice presidents, council members, Member of the Central Executive Board of the SYRIZA Party and Rhodope Provincial Organization Deputy Chairman Özgür Ferhat, PASOK Party Rhodope Provincial Organization Member and Rhodope Provincial Addiction Prevention and Mental Health Center Chairman Sibel Mustafaoğlu were among the participants.
The program started with the opening speech of SEÇEK Association President Necmettin Kahya. Later, Arianna (Kozlukebir) Mayor Rıdvan Ahmet greeted his kinsmen.
The program continued with the Quran read by the religious officer Mehmet Hafız Hoca.
After that, President of Western Thrace Culture and Education Company, Theologian Hüseyin Bostancı, took the floor.
Bostancı informed the participants about the importance of Muharram month and the event of ‘Karbala’.
In the last part of the program, the elected Mufti of Komotini hymn Group and the Republic of Türkiye Edirne State Turkish Music Ensemble took the stage.
SEÇEK Association management offered ‘Ashura’ to those who attended the event.
