The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMT) has launched a series of initiatives to strengthen its tourism profile, preparing for an anticipated rise in tourism in summer 2025. Under the leadership of Regional Governor Christodoulos Topsidis, the administration has focused on enhancing A.M.T.R.’s tourism offerings and boosting visitor numbers through targeted efforts.

Key initiatives this summer included a press trip organized by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) in Paris and Le Figaro, which led to a comprehensive 17-page feature on A.M.T.R. destinations in the publication's summer issue. “We are grateful to the GNTO in Paris for its invaluable support in coordinating this trip,” said Deputy Regional Tourism Head Panagiotis Archontis, highlighting ongoing support for similar initiatives.

In September, EMT participated in the Thessaloniki International Fair with a dedicated pavilion, attracting thousands of visitors. The event showcased local gastronomy and traditional dances, celebrating the region's cultural heritage. Additionally, EMT supported a familiarization tour for cruise agents organized by Kavala Port and Chamber of Commerce, recognizing the potential of cruise tourism in Kavala and other regional ports.

International efforts extended to the Paris tourism fair, with constructive meetings between Archontis, GNTO Secretary General Andreas Fiorentino, and global travel agents. To support air travel, Serbian agents participated in a familiarization tour, anticipating the region’s first direct charter flight from Belgrade next summer.

EMT also joined promotional events in Istanbul with Western Macedonia and Central Greece, hosting B2B meetings with TURSAB agents and local influencers at the Zografeion Lyceum alumni building. Discussions set the stage for further collaborations at Istanbul’s EMMIT tourism fair in February.
