Elmali Village hosts successful first-ever charity fair in Western Thrace
The village of Elmalı, located in the Mustafçova Municipality of Xanthi (İskeçe), successfully held its first-ever charity fair on August 1–2, drawing strong interest from neighboring villages and community members of all ages.
Organized under the slogan “It’s not just bread, but stories we grow by sharing,” the event showcased a remarkable spirit of unity, with residents of all ages—from children to the elderly—working side by side in a spirit of solidarity and service.
Support from Religious Leadership and Strong Local Participation
Held at the village’s social facilities, the fair received support from İskeçe Mufti Mustafa Trampa, who attended the event in person and expressed his appreciation for the village’s initiative.
Over the two days, the fair welcomed many visitors from surrounding villages. Homemade foods, sweets, grilled köfte, and a wide variety of local and handcrafted goods were offered for sale.
Proceeds to Benefit the Village
Organizers announced that all proceeds from the fair will be used for the benefit of the village, through projects coordinated by the local Vakıf (endowment) board.
The success of this debut event is seen as a promising foundation for future cultural and charitable activities in Elmalı, reinforcing community bonds and preserving traditions.
