Eastern Macedonia & Thrace: 972 checks, 26 fines issued for helmet violations
Police services of the General Regional Police Directorate of conducted 972 inspections and recorded 26 violations between November 10 and 16, 2025, as part of the “Zero Tolerance for Helmet Non-Use” campaign.
The initiative aims to ensure gradual and universal compliance among users of motorcycles, mopeds and Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs).
During targeted checks carried out by Traffic Police units in Kumçiftliği (Orestiada), Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli), Rodop (Rodopi), İskeçe (Xanthi), Kavala and Drama, officers inspected riders of mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles, rental vehicles without cabins, as well as professional delivery drivers to confirm adherence to mandatory helmet-use regulations.
The inspections resulted in:
19 violations by motorcycle/moped drivers
2 violations by motorcycle/moped passengers
5 violations by LPEV (Light Personal Electric Vehicle) drivers
Police emphasized that such operations will continue in order to enhance road safety and reduce accident-related injuries.
