Eastern Macedonia and Thrace strengthens security and infrastructure cooperation with Ministry of National Defence
During the meeting, Governor Topsidis expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s significant work, emphasizing its vital role in a cross-border region like Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The cooperation is seen as a key factor in enhancing citizens’ sense of security and creating a stable environment for residents and investors alike.
Key Points of Cooperation
The discussion highlighted the longstanding collaboration between the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and the Ministry of National Defence, yielding measurable results that reinforce the region’s developmental and defense capacities.
Funding of projects and equipment for the 4th Army Corps through the regional ESPA program was emphasized, including:
- €28 million for civil protection equipment
- €3 million for energy efficiency upgrades in Ministry buildings
Reference was made to the programmatic agreement signed last June, worth €576,000, for the “Maintenance of Border Route Networks”, part of a broader strategic plan to upgrade critical infrastructure and strengthen regional security.
Governor Topsidis thanked Minister Dendias for his visit, noting:
“Collaboration with the Ministry of National Defence is a decisive factor for the security, stability, and prosperity of our region’s residents.”
