Destici: "Türkiye is always trying to comply with the Treaty of Lausanne"

Grand Unity Party (BBP)  Chairman Mustafa Destici, attended the commemoration ceremony held on the occasion of Dr. Sadik Ahmet's 27th death anniversary.

According to AA Turkish version, In his speech in Western Thrace, Destici stated that Türkiye always strives to comply with the principles of the Treaty of Lausanne.

At the commemoration ceremony held at Ahmet&s grave, Destici mentioned the importance of Dr. Sadik Ahmet for the Turks of Western Thrace, and also commemorated the Mufti of Xanthi Ahmet Mete, who passed away on July 14, 2022.

Pointing to the crowd at Mete's funeral, Destici said, "This shows that no matter what anyone does, no matter what decision the Greek government takes, no matter what application they make, this is the ‘Turkish homeland’ and the Turks will continue to exist here." he said.

Reminding that today is the 99th anniversary of the Treaty of Lausanne, Destici said, "Turkiye's land borders were drawn with this agreement. Today, this agreement is still valid. The State of the Republic of Turkiye has always endeavored to comply with the principles of this agreement, in every sense.

Both on borders and on minorities and their rights, unfortunately, our interlocutors have always ignored these decisions and they continue to ignore them today," he said.

Destici also touched upon the problems experienced by the Western Thrace Turks and said, "I will always stand by Dr. Sadik Ahmet and his companions and my brothers in these lands, where they live, and be the defender of their rights." he said.
