Deputy Mayor Kadri Demir resignates in the Municipality of Avdira

Kadri (Santri) Demir has submitted his resignation from the position of Deputy Mayor of Daily Affairs in the Municipality of Avdira, citing a lack of support from his political faction to effectively carry out his responsibilities for the municipal unit he represents.

Demir, who was appointed deputy mayor in January 2025 by the mayor’s decision, was responsible for daily affairs, playgrounds, TOEB (Local Land Reclamation Organizations) oversight, and philanthropic associations.

In his resignation statement, he emphasized that serious reasons led him to this decision, making it impossible for him to continue his work in local governance—a role he considered a duty of service to his community.

His statement reads:

"Dear fellow citizens, with great regret, I inform you that I am in the unfortunate position of resigning from my post as Deputy Mayor of Avdira.
The reasons that led me to this decision are so significant that they force me to step away from public affairs, which I have always considered a duty aimed at serving my hometown.
I cannot look you in the eyes when I lack the ability to provide my services as Deputy Mayor, as my faction does not support me and fails to address the needs of the municipal unit I represent.
For the remainder of my term, I will continue to represent my voters as an Independent Councilor in the Municipal Council.
I remain at your disposal for anything I can assist you with."
