DEB Party: ‘This heinous act against human dignity is unacceptable’
The Friendship, Equality, and Peace (DEB) Party has condemned the attack on a young child by a racist group, calling the act inhumane and contrary to universal human rights.
In its statement, the DEB Party expressed deep concern and sorrow over the incident in Komotini, where a young child, reportedly a member of the Muslim Turkish Minority, was threatened and intimidated by a group of racist individuals. The statement noted:
"The perpetrators coerced the child into shouting slogans and subjected them to severe psychological pressure, instilling fear. This action is not only a violation of human dignity and universal human rights but also an attack on social harmony and the culture of coexistence. Protecting minority groups from such dangerous and racist approaches is imperative."
The party emphasized that acts of this nature threaten societal peace and violate fundamental principles of respect for individual differences, such as religion, language, and ethnicity.
Calling for immediate action, the DEB Party urged Greek authorities to identify the perpetrators and ensure justice is served. They also reiterated their commitment to monitoring and combating all forms of hate speech and discriminatory acts at both national and international levels.
The statement concluded with a firm declaration:
"The Friendship, Equality, and Peace Party will resolutely stand against all hate speech and discriminatory attitudes, as a matter of principle and duty to safeguard societal harmony and respect for human dignity."
