On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the 18 March Çanakkale Naval Victory, the acceptance of the Turkish National Anthem and the commemoration of the martyrs were held at the Consulate General of Komotini today.

The ceremony held in the garden of the Consulate General started with a minute's silence for Turkish Soldiers, who were martyred in the Çanakkale Wars and other wars for the sake of the homeland, and those who lost their lives in the great earthquakes that took place on 6 February.
Afterwards, the Quran was recited by İsmail Ahmet for the souls of the martyrs.

Consul General Unal began his speech by saying, "Çanakkale is more than a military victory, it is a spirit; it is a stance". In the continuation of the program, Consul General Aykut Ünal shared his thoughts on the Turkish National Anthem writer Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the 18 March Naval Victory with the participants.
The acceptance and commemoration of the National Anthem ended with the prayer of İbrahim Şerif, Chairman of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board and Mufti of Komotini, for those who lost their lives in the Çanakkale Wars and the great earthquakes that took place in the motherland of Turkey on February 6.
