Changes in the administrative structure of Komotini Municipality
Komotini Mayor Yannis Garanis has announced two changes in the municipality’s administrative structure, appointing new officials in key positions related to projects and tourism.
The Deputy Mayor for Projects, Planning, Urban Planning, and Spatial Planning, Dimitris Karastavrou, will be replaced by Giorgos Lazaridis, who previously held the position of Deputy Mayor for Tourism. In turn, Lazaridis’ vacant position will be filled by Petros Magiopoulos, the current president of the municipal company “N. Tsanaklis S.A.”
This decision signals Mayor Garanis’ trust in the new officials elected in the 2023 local elections. However, it is noteworthy that Dimitris Karastavrou, a highly experienced local official who has served as a municipal councilor since 2010, president of DEYAK from 2011 to 2019, and Deputy Mayor for Projects and Planning since 2019, has been left out of the municipal administration.
No further changes in the administrative structure of Komotini Municipality have been announced.
