Businessman Mehmet Buyuklu is a candidate from Metios in the region elections

Mehmet Buyuklu, who made a statement about his candidacy on his social media account in the past days, expressed his satisfaction and thanked to the President of the Region Christos Metios for his offer to him.

Businessman Mehmet Buyuklu, who also served as the president of Şahinspor football team for 13 years, said in his statement: "You can be sure that I will work with all my strength to be worthy of the support and trust you will give me on this arduous road I set out on."

Mehmet Buyuklu's nomination statement published on social media is as follows:

"Dear esteemed members of our Xanthi prefecture.

On 8 October 2023, in the local elections to be held in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace,  Upon the invitation of Mr. Hristos Metios, I would like to express with pleasure to you, our esteemed people, that I am a candidate for state council member from his list. First of all, I would like to emphasise that Mr. Metios believing in me, trusting me and wanting to work together with me in the region assembly in the local elections to be held on 8 October, expressing that I am extremely pleased and I would like to thank them. 

I believe that the offer of Mr. Hristos Metios stems from the trust and faith of our people in us. You can be sure that I will continue the same amount of successful work and effort I have shown in previous community organisations, both in the region elections and in the process after the elections. I also promise that I will identify all reasonable requests and needs of the region and the community I represent and work for their solution. Dear fellow citizens, you can have no doubt that I will work with all my strength to be worthy of the support and trust you will give me on this arduous journey. I promise you, our honourable nation, a diligence built on honesty for this land. 

With these feelings and thoughts, I wish success to all my friends who are candidates in the local elections to be held on 8 October 2023, I wish that the elections will take place in a democratic holiday atmosphere, and I present my love and respect."
