Black flag protest by Sofulu Municipality

In response to the government's actions, Sofulu Municipality in the Evros region has launched a protest by placing black flags at various points within its jurisdiction.
Sofulu Mayor Panayiotis Kalakikos, referring to recent statements made by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his visit to the area, expressed dissatisfaction with the exclusion of Sofulu from regional development plans.
Kalakikos highlighted the ongoing closures of public buildings and the challenges facing the private sector, particularly following the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and last year's devastating wildfires. He emphasized that the black flag protest aims to call attention to the municipality's needs, stating that their demands have been clearly communicated to government officials in detail and in writing.
