Ammunition found off Myrodato beach in İskeçe

Suspected ordnance discovered just one meter from shore.
A piece of suspected ammunition was found in the sea near Kalfalar (Myrodato) beach in İskeçe (Xanthi), local authorities said.
The object was discovered about one meter from the shoreline and at a depth of only 30 centimeters.

According to ERT, the Port of Porto Lagos Port Authority was notified around midday on Sunday by a private individual who reported finding what appeared to be ammunition in an oxidized condition in the coastal waters of İskeçe (Xanthi).
The exact type and origin of the object have not been established.
The location where the suspected ammunition was found is being guarded by personnel of the Hellenic Coast Guard.
Authorities are expected to take the necessary measures for its safe removal and disposal.
