Akın İslam İbram laid to rest
Akın İslam İbram, member of the Central Executive Committee of the Friendship, Equality, Peace (FEP) Party, former candidate for the European Parliament, and founding member of the Thrace Agricultural Cooperative, was laid to rest on Wednesday, August 27, in his hometown village of Salmanlı.
Following the afternoon prayer at the Salmanlı Mosque, he was buried in the village cemetery. The funeral was attended not only by locals but also by political representatives and leaders of civil society organizations.
Among those present were Turkish Consul General in Komotini Aykut Ünal, Rhodope MP Özgür Ferhat, FEP Party President Çiğdem Asafoğlu and party members, Sedat Hasan, President of the Turkish Youth Union of Komotini, Aydın Ahmet, President of the Western Thrace Turkish Teachers’ Union, Erol Yoluç, President of the Association of Religious Officials of Western Thrace Mosques, Kerem Abdurahimoğlu, President of the İskeçe Turkish Union, Ali Alioğlu, Vice President of the Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association, and Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Chairman of the Board of the Xanthi Minority Secondary School and High School, along with many compatriots.
Former FEP Party President Mustafa Ali Çavuş delivered a speech at the ceremony, emphasizing that Akın İslam İbram will be remembered for his sincerity, his struggle, and his dedication to the community.
