Advisory Board announces program for 29th January National Resistance and Solidarity Day
The Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK) has announced the program for the 29th January National Resistance and Solidarity Day, which will commemorate the 1988 resistance of the Turkish people of Western Thrace against the assimilation policies of the Greek government, as well as the attacks on Turkish businesses in 1990.
The event will be held on 29th January 2025, Wednesday, at the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Association (GTGB) premises.
Titled "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow of the 29th January," the event will begin at 18:00. During the event, young speakers will address the historical process of the 29th January events, their current significance, and the responsibilities that must be carried forward into the future.
Key speakers at the event will include Koray Bağdatlı, Vice President of the Friendship, Equality, Peace Party; Kerem Molla İsa, Head of the New Generation Branch of the Gümülcine Turkish Youth Association; Mustafa Budur, Head of the Youth Branch of the İskeçe Turkish Union; and Eslem Ali Çavuş, Secretary-General of the BTAYTD Youth Adamesiyenler Group, who will discuss the meaning and importance of the 29th January resistance.
