ABTTF paid a working visit to Western Thrace

Within the scope of the study visit, ABTTF President Halit Habipoğlu was accompanied by ABTTF International Relations Director Melek Kırmacı and met with the President and members of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority Advisory Board (BTTADK), institutions, organisations and individuals in Komotini and Xanthi. During the meetings, the main and current problems of the Turkish community in Western Thrace were discussed.
Within the scope of his visit to Western Thrace, Habipoğlu first met with BTTADK President and Komotini Mufti İbrahim Şerif at his office on 16 July Tuesday. Then Habipoğlu visited respectively Friendship Equality Peace (FEP) Party, Western Thrace Minority Culture and Education Company (BAKEŞ), Komotini Turkish Youth Union (GTGB), Western Thrace Turkish Teachers' Union (BTTÖB) and Western Thrace Minority University Graduates Association (WTMUGA).
On 17 July Wednesday, Habipoğlu visited Xanthi and met with Mufti of Xanthi Mustafa Trampa, New Left Xanthi MP Hüseyin Zeybek and Mayor of Mustafçova Ahmet Kurt in their offices and also visited Xanthi Turkish Union (ITU).
During the visits and meetings where the main and current problems of the Turkish community in Western Thrace were discussed, Habipoğlu reiterated ABTTF's constant support against the hate speech, stigmatisation and marginalisation targeting institutions, organisations and individuals representing the Turkish community in politics and mainstream media in Greece, which have increased recently. Habipoğlu noted that ABTTF is ready for all kinds of cooperation and solidarity with BTTADK in the struggle for the rights and freedoms of the Turkish community.
