3 fires in one day in Xanthi city centre
Three fires occurred in the city of Xanthi, which frightened and caused question marks in minds.
Two of the fires occurred around 8 pm, a few minutes apart and in the same area, while the third fire broke out around 23.00.
The first fire started in an abandoned house near Leoforos Stratou Street. As dense black smoke covered a large area, two fire engines were immediately dispatched to the scene and the fire was brought under control.
However, a few minutes later, a new fire broke out in another place nearby. At this point, fire brigades were dispatched again. While many citizens shared their concerns on social media, many people who saw the black, dense and distinct smoke started a discussion about what happened.
The justified panic of the citizens was attributed to the fact that our region is in the high fire risk category according to the relevant map of the General Secretariat of Fire Danger.
The 3rd fire of the day occurred in the Ektenepol area of Xanthi. The fire that broke out around 23.00 was extinguished in a short time with the rapid arrival of the Fire Brigade.
While 3 fires in the city centre in one day caused panic among the citizens, it also brought to mind the possibility of arson. The police are investigating the issue.
