15 arrested in anti-drug operations across Eastern Macedonia–Thrace
Greek authorities have arrested 15 individuals in a series of coordinated anti-drug operations carried out across the Eastern Macedonia and Thrace region between April 23 and 29, as part of intensified efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and use.
According to official statements, the suspects include 12 Greek nationals and three foreign nationals. A total of 13 separate case files have been opened for violations of drug-related legislation.
The operations were conducted by multiple law enforcement units, including police departments in Kumçiftliği, Gümülcine, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama, as well as specialized anti-narcotics and rapid response units.
Arrests were made across several locations, including Kumçiftliği, Gümülcine, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama. Authorities reported that during searches of a residence, a private vehicle, and individuals involved, officers seized approximately 26.77 grams of raw cannabis, 7.95 grams of cocaine, a plastic grinder, and two cannabis cigarettes.
The investigations were led by anti-narcotics and criminal investigation units in the respective regions, including divisions in Kumçiftliği, Gümülcine, İskeçe, Kavala, and Drama, alongside border police in Dimetoka and DIAS rapid response teams.
Case files have been forwarded to the competent public prosecutors, while preliminary investigations remain ongoing.
Officials report that such targeted operations will continue in an effort to curb the spread of illegal substances and strengthen public safety across the region.
