Türkiye: We expect the work (with Greece) to increase in September
In response to a question about relations with Greece, sources in the Ministry of National Defence said, "We expect the work and contacts to increase in September." In response to a journalist's question about the footage claiming that illegal crossings were taking place at the borders, Ministry sources said the following:
"Political considerations, personal ambitions and unrealistic, exaggerated, misleading discourses and stock images that were previously taken in different places and used for different purposes are being used to make our border security a subject of polemic. The majority of these images are taken and distributed by migrant smugglers for advertising purposes. Those who use these images are knowingly or unknowingly being instrumental in this work. In a way, they support it. Our Armed Forces work 24/7 in difficult climatic and terrain conditions with the understanding that 'the frontier is honour' to ensure our border security. Our expectation is that the extraordinary efforts and labour of Mehmetçik should be respected. We express once again that we are ready to take those who want to see the measures taken, the work done and the situation on our borders to our borders."
