Turkish Interior Minister Yerlikaya addresses violations in the Aegean Sea

Yerlikaya emphasized that these incidents are unacceptable, stating, "No one who sees those images can be okay with it. We do not accept this, and we have clearly expressed that."
Speaking during a live interview on A Haber, Yerlikaya recalled his conversation with Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, Christos Stylianides, who expressed regret over the incidents. Stylianides assured that an investigation had been launched and that the responsible individuals would face appropriate actions. The two ministers are scheduled to meet again on Monday to continue discussions on the issue.
Yerlikaya highlighted the proximity of the two nations' territorial waters, noting that fishing vessels sometimes inadvertently cross borders. He stressed the importance of handling these situations in accordance with international law and reiterated Türkiye's commitment to maintaining diplomatic dialogue.
The Interior Minister also praised the improving relations between Türkiye and Greece, driven by recent visits and meetings between the two countries' leaders. He expressed confidence that diplomatic efforts and communication would resolve such disputes, ensuring mutual respect and cooperation in the region.
