A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the Sındırgı district of Türkiye’s Balıkesir province early Saturday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the Sındırgı district of Türkiye’s Balıkesir province early Saturday, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).

AFAD said the quake was centered in Sındırgı and occurred at a depth of 11.04 kilometers. Tremors were felt in Istanbul as well as in several nearby provinces, including Bursa, Izmir, Yalova and Kütahya.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

Balıkesir Governor Ismail Ustaoğlu said in a statement on social media platform X that no damage had been reported so far, adding that AFAD teams and relevant institutions were continuing field inspections in the affected areas.
