5.1-magnitude earthquake strikes western Türkiye, tremors felt in Izmir
A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Buldan district of Denizli in western Türkiye on Monday morning, with tremors felt in several nearby provinces, including Izmir.
According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the quake occurred at 9:21 a.m. local time at a depth of 7 kilometers.
Residents also reported feeling the tremor in the provinces of Mugla and Isparta.
Authorities quickly mobilized response teams to assess the situation. Yavuz Selim Kosger, governor of Denizli, said that teams from AFAD, the gendarmerie, police and emergency medical units had been deployed across the affected area.
Kosger said no damage or injuries had been reported so far and wished residents a speedy recovery, adding that authorities continue to monitor the situation.
