Greek social solidarity team brings aid materials to Turkish earthquake victims

A social solidarity team from Greece arrived by ferry Sunday in the Bodrum district of Türkiye’s Mugla province with aid materials to be delivered to the victims of the Feb. 6 twin earthquakes.

The team, called "Oallosanthropos - Humanitarian Aid" which is affiliated with a Greek Red Cross delegation, disembarked from the ferry at Bodrum Cruise Port and was transported to a pickup truck by volunteers from the Red Crescent and municipality personnel.

Bodrum Deputy Mayor Ummahan Yurt presented flowers to the crew's leader Konstantinos Polychronopoulos and his entourage.

Polychronopoulos said they will continue to help people in the earthquake area.

He and his delegation set out with the pickup truck to take the aid materials to Hatay province.

At least 44,374 people have been killed by two strong earthquakes that jolted southern Türkiye on Feb. 6.

The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude quakes, centered in Kahramanmaras province, affected more than 13 million people across 11 provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Elazig and Sanliurfa.
