Two minority volunteers rewarded

Hakan Boz Ali and Hakan Piska Memetali, who voluntarily participated in the search and rescue efforts after the earthquakes in homeland Türkiye, were awarded.

Hakan Boz Ali from Aşağıköy and Hakan Pişka Memetali from Evrenköy, who voluntarily participated in the search and rescue efforts carried out in Türkiye from the Rhodope region of Greece, were awarded by the Sappes (Şapçı)-Maronya Mayor Dinos Haritopulos.

Mayor Haritopulos met with the youth on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, to celebrate and honor Hakan Boz Ali and Hakan Pişka Memetali, who went to Türkiye with the Greek Rescue Team (EMAK) and volunteered for search and rescue efforts.

Minority youth, citizens and residents of Sappes (Şapçı)-Maronya Municipality, joined the Greek Rescue Team, which included volunteers from all over Greece, to search and rescue efforts in dozens of buildings for a week in Adıyaman, Türkiye's Southeast Anatolian region, where earthquakes were devastating.

During the meeting with the mayor, the young people shared their experiences during their stay in the earthquake zones. T

hey also gave information about the work of the Greek Rescue Team (EMAK) in the Rhodope region.

The Mayor congratulated the young volunteers for their devoted efforts in search and rescue efforts. He emphasized that the humanitarian behavior they exhibited set an example and brought the peoples of the two countries together.

In recognition of their work, the mayor thanked the young people and rewarded them.
