The Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) organized a graduation ceremony at Selçuk University for international students who studied in Turkey with YTB scholarships.

At the "2024 International Students Graduation Ceremony" held in the Malazgirt Hall of Selçuk University's Sultan Alparslan Cultural Center, YTB President Abdullah Eren spoke about the significance of YTB, which receives tens of thousands of applications from around the world each year. Eren emphasized that through these scholarships, Türkiye's academic, historical, and cultural heritage is being shared globally.

Eren continued: "The Türkiye scholarships program is one of the programs that exemplifies the strategic vision of the Turkish state. The YTB presidency was established in 2010, reflecting a paradigm shift in Turkey's foreign policy over the last 20 years under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Turkey has adopted a more proactive and assertive foreign policy, moving away from the values of the Anglo-Saxon Western world, and instead promoting a civilization consciousness grounded in our heritage that appeals to all humanity."

15,000 International Students from 170 Countries

Eren outlined the three main roles of YTB: "We are essentially a diaspora organization, dealing with our citizens abroad. Secondly, many of you come to Türkiye from regions we refer to as our 'heartland,' where Türkiye has historical and cultural ties. Türkiye conducts cultural activities for these communities. The third role is providing scholarships to international students. Currently, 15,000 international students from 170 countries are studying in Türkiye."

Eren mentioned that 880 international students are studying in Konya with scholarships and noted that over 300 graduates from 12 provinces around Konya attended the ceremony, wishing all students success in their future endeavors.

Konya Governor Özkan

Konya Governor Vahdettin Özkan highlighted the importance of people from different countries coming together and sharing common human values, contributing to future peace and harmony.

Özkan stated, "Our guests here studied with determination and will continue to act as ambassadors of goodwill. In this age of communication, the solidarity of these well-educated individuals will create a positive global atmosphere."

High Honors for Gazan Maysoon and Libyan Mohammed

At the end of the event, Gazan Maysoon Masoud, who graduated with high honors from Selçuk University's Faculty of Medicine, and Libyan Mohammed Omar Khalifah Alashibi, who graduated with high honors from Selçuk University's Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, received their diplomas from protocol members.

The ceremony was attended by Selçuk University Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz, Konya Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, AK Party Konya Deputy Selma Özboyacı, academics, and students.
