UEFA sanctions AEK and FCSB for fan misconduct

At a Europa Conference League playoff in Athens, AEK supporters displayed a banner containing expletives directed at Anderlecht fans, while also lighting fireworks and invading the pitch. As a result, UEFA fined the Greek club a total of €56,000 and ordered the closure of a large section of its stadium for the upcoming home fixture against Aberdeen on October 23.
FCSB, formerly known as Steaua Bucharest, faced sanctions for “racist and/or discriminatory behavior” after fans chanted against Aberdeen during a Europa League playoff. UEFA imposed a €30,000 fine and mandated the closure of several sections of the National Arena in Bucharest for the October 2 match against Swiss side Young Boys.
UEFA has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward offensive, discriminatory, and violent conduct by supporters, stressing that clubs will be held accountable for their fans’ actions in European competitions.
