Greenwood arrives in Istanbul ahead of Fenerbahce unveiling
Mason Greenwood has arrived in Istanbul ahead of his official unveiling as a Fenerbahce player, receiving a warm welcome from hundreds of supporters at the city's airport.
The 24-year-old English forward, who joins the Turkish club from Olympique de Marseille in a reported €39 million transfer, said he was overwhelmed by the reception.
"It's amazing to feel this kind of support. Fenerbahce fans are incredible," Greenwood told reporters, adding that he hopes to repay the fans with goals and that his family is looking forward to settling in Istanbul.
Fenerbahce said Greenwood will be officially presented on Friday during a signing ceremony at Chobani Stadium alongside fellow new arrivals Nathan Aké and Vedat Muriqi.
Club board member Cihan Kamer, who helped negotiate the transfer, credited club president Aziz Yildirim for securing the deal and said the summer recruitment campaign had been carefully planned to strengthen the squad.
Greenwood began his senior career at Manchester United before spending a season on loan at Getafe. He joined Marseille on a permanent deal in 2024, scoring 48 goals in 76 appearances across all competitions over two seasons.
The forward has made one senior appearance for England, earning his only international cap in 2020.
