The joy of Eid in Western Thrace
Just like in the whole Islamic world, Eid al Adha was celebrated with joy in Western Thrace. Due to the Eid al Adha, celebration ceremonies were held in minority institutions.
After praying altogether in the early hours of the morning, almost 150 citizens of the Western Thrace Muslim-Turkish Minority reached the peak of solidarity and togetherness by celebrating each other’s eid.
The second day was held a celebration ceremony at the Turkish Consulate in Komotini. There attended many minority members from the provinces of Evros, Komotini Xanthi and abroad.
The guests were welcomed by the consul Murat Ömeroğlu, his spouse Aslı Ömeroğlu and the workers of the consulate. Between 10:00 and 12:00 on Wednesday, 22 August, there also took part many of politicians and chairmen of NGOs in the participation.
Because of the Eid there was also held a concert at one of the most significant insitutions in Western Thrace, The Turkish Youth Union of Komotini. The concert had been enjoyed with a great admiration.
