Youth vaping on the rise in Greece
A recent MRB Hellas study has revealed that 2.9% of Greek teenagers aged 15–17 use e-cigarettes, nearly three times the European average of 1%.
According to kathimerini, the research, commissioned by tobacco company Papastratos and presented in collaboration with Greece’s Health and Digital Governance ministries, surveyed 1,000 adults and 2,504 retailers in June 2025. While 98% of retailers are aware of age restrictions on e-cigarette sales, enforcement remains a challenge.
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis raised concerns that youth vaping rates in Greece may actually be higher than reported European statistics suggest.
The study came ahead of Law 5216/2025, passed in July, which introduced stricter regulations on vaping products. Public sentiment strongly supports tighter control, with 92% of citizens agreeing that limiting youth access to tobacco is everyone’s responsibility.
