Xanthi Stream (Kosinthos) being reconstructed
The reconstruction project, worth 7.5 million euros in total, will cost 5.5 million euros with discounts. Signatures were signed between East Macedonian Thrace Region President Christos Metios and Kokkinos ATEE owner Kostandinos Kokkinos.
The signing ceremony of the project, which will protect Xanthi and especially the Boyacılar region against a possible flood, was held at the Xanthi State Vice Presidency office.
Xanthi State Vice President Kostas Kurtidis and Xanthi provincial council members also attended the signing ceremony.
The improvement project covers an area of 3 kilometers from Boyacılar to Polisitos. In this area, the bottom of the riverbed will be 50 meters, while the banks will be 6 meters high and 9 meters wide. The river will be surrounded by a stone wall. At the same time, a 3-kilometer wall will be built along the northern bank of the river.
With the project, it is aimed to protect the settlements of Boyacılar (Vafeika), Kozlar (Pigadia), Polisitos, and Sidini and the cultivated lands in this region against possible floods.
