Building of Greek Part of Rudozem-Xanthi Road Discussed by Regional Governors
Smolyan Regional Governor Stefan Sabrutev travelled to Komotini, northern Greece, to talk with Christos Metios, Governor of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, the administration of the Greek region wrote on its website on Thursday.
The building of the Greek part of the Rudozem-Xanthi road topped the agenda of the meeting. The road will link the two neighbouring regions and is expected to boost the tourist flow.
The governors discussed the state of play of the construction work, focusing on the road section between the Greek town of Dimario and the border, which is about to be completed, and the section between Melivia and Dimario, which has been assigned to a contractor.
The building of the Rudozem-Xanthi Border Checkpoint and the adjoining infrastructure in Bulgarian territory have been completed. The place is guarded round the clock until the whole project is carried out.
