Workers prevent shipment of ammunition container to Israel from Piraeus Port
According to a report by state television ERT, the container, transported to Greece via North Macedonia, was brought to Piraeus to be loaded onto a ship heading for Haifa, Israel. Responding to a call from labor unions, workers gathered to prevent the loading of the ammunition-filled container.
The workers displayed banners on the container reading "Murderers, get out of the port," while chanting slogans such as "Freedom for Palestine." They emphasized their refusal to allow the container to be loaded onto the ship, stating they would not "stain their hands with the blood of the Palestinian people."
Markos Bekris, President of the Piraeus Port Workers' Union, stated, "We have decided not to allow the shipment of war ammunition that will continue the genocide of the Palestinian people from Piraeus Port." He also called for an immediate end to the country's involvement in the war.
