Weather Forecast: Sunshine today, cooler temperatures and snow expected this weekend
Greece will enjoy mostly clear skies on Friday, with some clouds in the west, south, and briefly over the eastern Aegean islands. Light rain is possible in the Ionian Sea and Crete. Morning and evening fog may reduce visibility in some areas, particularly in the west.
Winds will be mostly light, 3–4 Beaufort in the north, and westerly up to 5 Beaufort elsewhere. Temperatures will rise slightly, reaching 12–14°C in northern mainland areas and 15–17°C elsewhere, locally up to 18°C in Crete and the Dodecanese. Early morning frost is expected in central and northern mainland regions.

From Saturday, a change in weather is expected, with increasing clouds, local rain, or sleet in eastern mainland areas, the northern Aegean islands, Evia, the Cyclades, and Crete. Light snow is expected in mountainous and semi-mountainous areas of central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Temperatures will drop, and frost will occur in central and northern mainland areas during mornings and evenings.

Friday, Jan. 16: Increasing clouds in northern and eastern areas with light rain and snow in northern mountains. Winds 3–6 Beaufort; temperatures slightly lower in the northeast.
Saturday, Jan. 17: Rain or sleet in eastern mainland, northern Aegean, Evia, Cyclades, and Crete; light snow in northern and central mountains. Stronger winds, up to 7–8 Beaufort in the Aegean. Temperatures falling, frost in central and northern areas.
Sunday–Monday, Jan. 18–19: Cloudy with local rain, sleet, and light snow in parts of Macedonia, Thessaly, Evia, the eastern mainland, and Crete; remaining areas partly cloudy. Further temperature drop with frost, locally severe in northern regions.
The weekend will mark a significant cooling trend, with winter conditions returning to northern and eastern parts of the country.
