Authorities are warning the public about Caller ID Spoofing, a fraudulent technique used by scammers to impersonate trusted organizations like the Cybercrime Division of the Greek Police.

⚠️ How the Scam Works
Scammers manipulate caller ID information, making it appear as if they are calling from official numbers, such as 2144027860, which belongs to the Cybercrime Division but does not make outgoing calls.

By using Voice over IP (VoIP) services, fraudsters:
✅ Fake caller ID information to appear legitimate.
✅ Claim to be police officers or cybersecurity agents.
✅ Tell victims they have cryptocurrency accounts in their name and offer to help recover them.
✅ Try to extract personal or banking details.

🚫 How to Protect Yourself
🔹 Be skeptical of calls claiming to be from police, banks, or other official institutions, especially if they request sensitive information.
🔹 Hang up immediately if you suspect fraud and verify the caller’s legitimacy by directly contacting the official organization.
