Thousands of students protest across Greece seeking justice for Tempe disaster

Thousands of students rallied across Greece on Friday, in an anti-government protest against delays in an investigation into a 2023 rail disaster that claimed 57 lives.
Protested chanted slogans such as “I have no oxygen,” and “Murderers! Murderers!”
In Athens, students were joined by many of their teachers, as the Greek Federation of Secondary Education State School Teachers (OLME) declared a strike in solidarity with the protests.
“The full truth must be uncovered, the causes of the explosion [during the collision] must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible for the unacceptable tampering with the crime scene before the necessary evidence was collected must be held accountable,” OLME stated in its announcement.
Police detained 27 people and arrested one following pre-checks.
Protests also took place in Thessaloniki and other major cities, including Patras, Larissa, Chania, and Nafplio.
